The Transfiguration

August 6, 1955

Dear Diary,

The air was crisp and fresh as we set off down the gravel road for Holy Mass. Birds chirped cheerfully, and the cornfields flanked us, with the ears growing heavy. The sky brightened with hues of pink and gold, promising a beautiful day.

When we reached the church, the sight of St. Mary's brought peace. Today is the Feast of the Transfiguration, and Father LeRoy's homily was moving. He spoke about Mark 9:2-10, where Jesus was transfigured before Peter, James, and John. Father Leroy explained this moment as a glimpse of Jesus' divine glory and a foreshadowing of his resurrection. The dazzling white clothes symbolized purity and God's promises. The voice from the cloud – "This is my beloved Son. Listen to him" – was a call to trust and follow Jesus, even without full understanding.

Evening Prayer:

"Dear Lord, thank you for the blessings of this day. Help me to always listen to your beloved Son and to trust in your plan. Please watch over Sister Mary Claire, Mini, my brown hen Omelette, my beaver friend Shaggycoat  and keep us all safe. Amen."

Until tomorrow, dear diary.

Love, Kathy
