Pointing the Way

December 8, 1955

Dear Diary,

Today, Sister Mary Clare sat me down and explained a beautiful meditation about St. John the Baptist. I hadn’t thought much about how brave and faithful he was, even when he was in prison. He sent his disciples to Jesus to help them understand that Jesus is the Savior. Sister said St. John was like a guide, pointing everyone to Jesus even when he was going through hard times. It made me think about how I can share God’s love with others too.

Sister reminded me that it’s easy to get distracted by things like selfishness or wanting too much, but those things pull us away from God. She said it’s important to focus on serving Him and trusting Him to guide us. I liked when she said Jesus draws us closer to Him, like a warm embrace.

Sister Mary Clare told me that we should look for little ways to be kind, so I gave Mini some extra scratches behind her ears tonight. She gave me her funny little bottom-wiggle instead of a wag, which made me laugh. Even when it’s cold and gray, Mini knows how to bring joy into the day.

Thank you, Lord, for Sister’s wisdom, Mini’s patience, and the warm house that keeps us safe from the cold. Help me, like St. John, to point others to You.

Goodnight, dear Diary.
Kathy
