Dear Diary,
Mini and I sat by the frosty window this morning, looking out at the snow-covered yard. The tool shed stood silent, framed by icy patterns on the glass. For a moment, it felt like a nativity scene—Mary with baby Jesus, their warmth lighting up the cold cold world. Sleepy me dear Diary,
Love Kathy
God's Preparation of Mary
Sister Mary Claire explained to me how, from all eternity, God had chosen Mary to be the mother of His Son. She said that God filled Mary with such extraordinary grace and beauty that no other creature could compare. From the very moment she existed, Mary was pure and holy, perfectly made to carry Jesus in her womb. Sister said that Mary was always open to God's guidance, which made her worthy to be the living Tabernacle of the Most High.
She told me that even as a child, Mary was called by God into His Temple, where He prepared her to love Him with all her heart. Her heart was so pure that she made a special vow to remain a virgin, and she agreed to marry St. Joseph only because he would protect her purity. Sister said that God guarded Mary from every sin, making her the perfect example of love and devotion for us to follow.
Sister Mary Claire ended by saying we should thank God for choosing Mary and for all the blessings He gives us. She reminded me that if we feel especially loved by Him, we should show our gratitude by loving Him more and by being kind to others.
