DEAR DIARY

  Dear Diary,

It feels like Sister Mary Claire and I have found a new home within the walls of the old covered wagon. We've draped the inside with a patchwork quilt, each square stitched with stories of the past. This quilt has become our backdrop as we kneel and lift our voices in prayer from our newfound treasure, 'The Inner Court' published way back in London in 1924. These rare treasures are certainly worth writing down in your diary too!

The very first prayer we read together struck a chord in both our hearts: "Make known unto me, O Lord, the way wherein I shall walk, for I have lifted up my soul unto Thee."  It feels like a guiding star, asking for direction in a world that often seems shrouded in mystery. To Sister and me, it’s a reminder that we're seeking a path laid out by a higher hand, a path of purpose and peace.

Outside, the world is thawing, but within the confines of our canvas retreat, it's perpetually warm. Tom has worked his magic, setting up a wood stove that breathes warmth into our little sanctuary, keeping the chill of the outside world at bay. It's our cozy corner of tranquility where prayers and dreams weave together.

As Sister and I settled into the comforting crackle of the fire, Tom appeared like a winter angel, bearing a pot of Judy’s hot chocolate for the stove and a plate of her legendary chocolate chip cookies. The aroma of the cookies melded with the rustic scent of burning wood. Judy’s secret, she insists, is in taking the cookies out just before you think they're done, leaving them divinely soft with melted chocolate pockets.

This little tent, a prayer station within a covered wagon, has become a cradle for our souls, a place of warmth not just from the stove, but from the shared joy of friendship and faith.

Until tomorrow, Kathy

P.S. Tomorrow, I’ll be sure to jot down Judy’s 'bake just right' cookie recipe for you!
